During the Spring of 1991, my cousin, Kellie Cracus and I decided to make a million dollars. The plan seemed very straight forward, we would use her artistic talent and my entrepreneurial spirit. I had recently moved my family to Arizona and Kellie and I decided on a selection of Christmas cards and note cards with a Southwestern theme. She went right to work and on August 5th, 1991 she sent her paintings to me. They were fabulous!

Unfortunately life got in our way back in 1991. The move to Arizona required more time at my job and squeezing in family time was difficult as it was. Kelly was busy with her family and her art career so the project was filed for next year. Well, you know how it goes, next year becomes the next year. Today’s issues always seem more important and life is too busy to take on a new project.

Fifteen years have now gone by. That is a lot of “next years.” In that time, Kellie and her Dad, my Uncle Ferd Valentine, passed way too early with complications associated with cancer. My Dad, Wiff Christensen, passed way too early with complications associated with heart disease. As families, we have tried to presere their memories in a couple of ways. Kellie and Ferd’s friends and family initiated a Memorial golf tournament every year in Brigham City. This tournament honors Kellie, Ferd and others. A donation to the Cancer Society is made from the proceeds. When my Dad passed away, my sister Carie Welsh and I started the Wiff Christensen scholarship fund which awards a college scholarship each year to a deserving student at Ogden High School where my Dad taught and coached for 30 years.

This leads us to today. Fifteen years later, but hopefully not too late to make a difference, these incredible Christmas cards and note cards are now being shared with you. I have printed a very limited number of these beautiful cards with a very different purpose than our original thoughts in the Spring of 1991. The proceeds from the one time sale of these Kellie Cracus Original prints will be split in two. Fifty percent will be presented to the American Cancer Society Box Elder Chapter as part of the annual Golf Tournament in Brigham City; the second half will be allocated to the Wiff Christensen College Scholarship Fund to improve the size of our annual award, and help assure its perpetuity.
